Nurses are there by our sides, talking to us about our beautiful new baby while we're getting stitched up. They're casually making conversation while trying to put in an IV and we hate needles. 

One new mom told us that her nurse was great at talking to her about non-birth stories and non-medical things while she was stuck in the hospital for a prolonged stay. By that time, she needed the distraction to forget where she was for a while.
