What’s the difference between being a nervous new mom and having a diagnosis of postpartum anxiety? It can be hard to tell sometimes, and many women don’t even realize that what they’re experiencing isn’t normal until months or sometimes years later.

Many women know about postpartum depression, but had no idea postpartum anxiety even existed and it’s partly due to the fact of “worried new mom” syndrome. Moms with undiagnosed anxiety just think they’re extra worried because they’re now responsible for a tiny baby.

But somewhere along the way, the concerns that the blanket is too warm for the baby turn into obsessive, terrifying thoughts of the baby suffocating and there’s nothing you can do to prevent it.
