22. They Paid Off Their Frogmore Cottage Renovation Debt
In September 2020, Harry and Meghan repaid the $3 million of public money that they used to renovate their home, Frogmore Cottage, on the Windsor estate. They paid back the money to the Sovereign Grant, which is a taxpayer-funded grant that is given by the U.K. government to the palaces to support the royal family.

The couple used the money to convert five staff dormitory-style units into one big home. Though they are no longer living there, the cottage will be their official residence when visiting the U.K.
