7. Introduce A Security Item
A comfort object can help children navigate situations in which they experience anxiety or stress, and that can include bedtime. For babies, a pacifier can be a useful tool for helping them fall asleep. It has the added benefit of being protective against Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Toddlers can have a lovey (usually a little square blanket with a stuffed animal attached), which can reduce nighttime fears, especially if they wake up scared and find something familiar and comforting next to them.
