19. Set a homework timer
If your child is taking the entire evening to complete his assignments, set a timer and collect data to bring his teacher. It's one thing to say your child has too much homework, it's another to provide the teacher with an accurate window into what's happening.

While some kids may need less work, others just need fewer distractions or better incentives. Using the amount of time spent on his work will help you and his teacher dive deeper into what's really happening. And, contrary to what you might think, you're child's teacher really doesn't want him up all night doing his work...
