3. Maintain Your Composure
It's easier said than done, but it's essential that you keep your cool in the midst of a tantrum. After all, it's pretty hard to teach your child how to calm themselves down when you're not calm yourself. 

By keeping calm and carrying on, not only are you acting as a role model for how to respond to frustration, you are also sending the message that this type of behavior doesn't affect you. If they can't get a rise out of mom that way, then a tantrum is less attractive.
