How To Tackle One Of The Hardest Parts Of Toddlerhood
16.
Encourage Them To Use Their Words
One of the reasons toddlers throw fits is that they don't have the language skills to express their wants, needs, and frustrations. "Use your words" is good advice, but only for a child with a fairly large vocabulary.
Fortunately, talking isn't our only means of communication. A toddler who has been taught sign language can be prompted to sign "hungry" or "tired." Virtually any child can point to what they want when cued.
