Know What They Are
Night terrors are different than nightmares, from which your child will wake up and be able to be soothed back to sleep. According to KidsHealth, “Night terrors are caused by over-arousal of the central nervous system during sleep.” They usually happen between 2-3 hours after a child falls asleep, and they’re marked by a child waking up from a seemingly sound sleep, sitting up and yelling or screaming, kicking or thrashing, sweating, or acting upset or scared.
