The first time someone asked me this, I replied: “A baby?” I didn’t understand that they were asking me about my child’s ethnicity. An adopted child’s ethnicity is often a question mark. Even if it isn’t, it’s a question that lacks tact. Don’t ask unless you’re close to the family.
