Depending on when you were born, your parents may have put you to sleep on your stomach. Conventional wisdom said it would prevent babies from choking on spit up. Unfortunately, this practice is downright dangerous.

Since 1994, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has recommended that infants be placed on their backs to sleep in order to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
