The Complete New-Mom Registry (& What You REALLY Don’t Need)
3.
Need: Baby Swing/Infant Seat
The fact is, sometimes you are going to want to put your baby down. When it comes to infant seats, there are a number of options to choose from. Many babies like the rocking motion provided by a swing or rocker (bonus: they're electric). A bouncer with dangling toys can keep baby entertained. When they get older, they may like to hang out in a floor seat while you grab a shower, or play in a jumper or exersaucer.
With all seats, you have to be careful that your infant doesn't spend too much time in them. The concern is container syndrome, which can prevent baby from developing normally. Try to keep these inactive periods to no more than 30 minutes, and resist the temptation to register for every type.
