1. Share A Hobby Or Interest
Retirement is a ideal time to explore outside interests. It's also the perfect springboard for fun times with grandkids. It doesn't matter if your interests tend toward the mechanical, the creative, or the physical. Your grandchild would love to help you, especially when it's something they've never done before, like work on a classic car or  knit a blanket. My daughter loves nothing more than riding around in the cart with her grandparents to feed the cows at their ranch.

When I was young, my seamstress-extraordinaire grandma spent a week teaching me to sew. Grandpa enrolled my sister and me in sailing lessons so we could participate fully in his new maritime acquisition. I can't do either one well these days, but I'll never forget the time I spent with my grandparents doing something they loved.
