6. Boys Can Only Wear Shorts
There is a reason why Prince George exclusively wears shorts: Royal boys aren't allowed to wear trousers until around age 8, signaling manhood.

This tradition dated back to the 16th century, when young boys wore dresses until the age of 8. The same look has stuck, just instead of gowns, we now have shorts.

But there is also a more modern reason why royal boys wear shorts. They're a silent British class marker signaling they're aristocrats, allowing the royals to distance themselves from the middle class during modern times. And, exceptions are sometimes made for royal events, like weddings, where etiquette requires pants instead.
