Let's Tone Down Those Over-The-Top Kid Birthday Parties

1. Just Family Is Fabulous
Sometimes a big birthday party is expected, especially with a first child. It’s tempting to invite family, friends with kids, new friends you’ve made since having a kid, and longtime friends you haven’t seen since your kid was a month old and whose lives don’t revolve around nap schedules and feedings.

But with everyone from your past, present and future hanging out in the backyard, your co-worker bringing his three dogs and a pony keg, and your daughter in need of an afternoon nap, things can get crazy fast.

Consider keeping celebrations to family or family+five closest friends.
