Ways To Foster Independence In Your Kids (At Any Age)

Choose Natural Consequences
Nothing really brings home a lesson like a natural consequence. You can tell your child about how their shoes keep their feet safe and warm, but they’re not likely to listen. If the natural consequence of not wearing shoes at the park is that their feet will get cold, it’s worth it to just let that battle go and let them realize themselves why they need shoes. Children that learn lessons the hard way, naturally, are more likely to remember the consequence of their actions next time.
