How To Survive Your First Trimester Of Pregnancy

6. Sensitivity To Smells
Along with nausea, sensitivity to the smells of certain foods or perfumes can be upsetting to women. It’s caused by pregnancy hormones, like everything else during this time, but there are some things that can help.

Obviously, the best advice is to avoid situations with strong smells, or smells you know you’re triggered by. If seeing or smelling chicken makes you want to hurl, don’t even bring those foods into the house. This is also where peppermint scents come in handy, and some women will rub peppermint lip balm or diluted oils below their nose to mask any other scents. Keeping your windows open for fresh air flow, and washing laundry regularly can keep smells from building up.
