You can defuse dinner table drama with a simple phrase: "You don't have to eat it." When you serve your kid food and they express dislike or even disgust, you don't have to engage in a power struggle that you can't win anyway. Let them eat what they like and leave what they don't, while you enjoy your own meal. Sometimes just removing the pressure (and the need to win) is enough to get them to try.
