The last thing on your mind as you cradle your baby in those first few weeks is teeth, unless you're wondering when you last had a moment to brush your own. While some babies are born with teeth, it's rare. You may see baby's first tooth (and lots of drooling) as early as 3 months, but it's closer to age one for some. The range varies widely by baby.
And, even before you see any signs of teething, it's important to keep your baby's gums clean by lightly rubbing them with gauze or a wet washcloth as part of bath time. This also prepares your little one for future brushing.
Once those teeth come in, what's next? Here we map out what to expect with those pearly whites.
