Books to Bond Over With Your Tween Reader

9. 'The Penderwicks A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy,' by Jeanne Birdsall
Looking for something light yet also endearing in its subtle magic? This book makes a wonderful summer read or an escape from winter when summer is missed the most.

The four Penderwick sisters travel with their widower father to a summer estate in Massachusetts called Arundel, with its gorgeous gardens, trinket-filled attic, tame rabbits, and a cook who bakes divine gingerbread. But the best part of Arundel is Jeffrey Tifton, son of Arundel's owner. Timothy quickly becomes the perfect companion for their adventures, even though his mother is not enchanted with the Penderwicks like he is.
