6. Need: Crib
Your baby will outgrow their bassinet at around 6 months and graduate to a crib. You'll want to make sure the crib you choose adheres to the most current safety guidelines, such as having slats no more than 2 3/8" apart. You should also be able to adjust the height of the mattress.

Many cribs are designed to grow with your child. Convertible models give you the most bang for your buck, although you should be aware that you may need to buy a conversion kit when the time comes.

Along with your crib, you'll need to register for a firm mattress designed to fit with no spaces, as well as 2-4 fitted sheets (which, at this point, is the only thing that should be in the bed with your baby).
