Potty training is perhaps one of most dreaded parts of parenting. It's not only a major milestone; it's also one of the first things we teach our children. We have high expectations — for ourselves and our kids.

Emotions tend to run high with toilet training. It's beset with accidents, refusals, and regressions — not to mention the fact that kids really have no motivation to do it (the diaper's working out pretty well for them, thanks so much).

As always, preparation is key. You can set yourself up for success by familiarizing yourself with tried and true strategies before you tackle the potty.
