23. Make family finances into a game
Speaking of starting good habits, the more you can involve your kids in budgeting and tracking expenses, the more likely they'll start their adult lives with an awareness of how to manage their own money.

While you don't want to instill anxiety around not having enough money, you do want to help them understand the value of a dollar and hard work. Avoid saying things like, "We don't have enough money," and instead teach them, "We're going to do other things with our money this month." 

Games like tracking grocery spending in comparison with monthly budget goals are great for developing awareness and turning trips to the store into a brain challenge instead of just another chore.
