9. Make the outdoors part of your entertainment routine
In addition to being good for the mind and body, the outdoors are great because they generally don't cost any money to visit. When you're looking for activities to keep your family busy, look at local parks and trails. A bike ride, hike, jog, or even walk double as both exercise and entertainment. 

On the same token, if you're paying for a costly gym membership you either don't use or could replace with outdoor activity, this is a great way to save money each month.
