What are your top tips for first-time moms?
QC: Try and take a breastfeeding class in advance or read about what to expect in those first few weeks of nursing. Most moms put a lot of thought and preparation into the birth and forget to prepare for the breastfeeding. They are under the impression it will come naturally to them and are surprised if they have challenges. There is a bit of a learning curve for you and the baby so be patient and reach out for help if you’re struggling. Find someone licensed by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners in your area in advance so if you do hit some bumps in the road, you know who to reach out to.
