Set Them Up For Success
When our children are very young, we can prepare their world for them before we need to prepare them for the world. A prepared environment is one that allows children a chance to operate (mostly) independently. Little things can have big impacts, like labeling toy bins for what goes in them so that children can successfully clean up after themselves, or putting cups and plates at their height so they can serve themselves. Being successful at simple daily tasks will give them the courage to attempt more complicated independent activities later.
