Portland, Oregon And Beyond
The Oregon coast is stunning, but it is often cold and windy. Cannon Beach is a quick hop outside the city and makes a beautiful backdrop to your family’s beach day. The water is cold and the waves are rough, so don’t expect to take a dip, but a picnic on the beach while you hunt for seashells will go over beautifully and only cost a nominal parking fee. Aside from the coast, Columbia River Gorge offers beautiful hiking and outdoor recreation opportunities year around.

In Portland city proper, you will have a hard time choosing what to check out. A family could spend days just in Washington Park. The Oregon Zoo,Portland Children’s Museum, Hoyt Arboretum, and Portland Japanese Garden are all located within the park. You can purchase discounted tickets online for the park attractions, or if you’re really watching your money, just go and enjoy the park for free. Hoyt Arboretum and the park's creative playground in the park have no admission fee sand will keep the kids happy while you relax in the stunningly green surroundings.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a great way to spend an afternoon with the family and tickets are only $9-13. Or head out to the Portland Saturday Market and explore the maze of goodies. Portland has a strong public transport system, TriMet, so be sure to take advantage of it as you navigate your way through the city.
