Outer Banks, North Carolina
Staying in Outer Banks can be done on the cheap, if you’re willing to rough it a bit. Campsites in the area fill up fast but can cost a fraction of what a hotel room would. If you’d rather have the comfort of a bed, look at cottage rentals. Renting a cottage closer inland will cost you less than a beach-front villa, and it isn’t more than a short jaunt to the beach on these small islands.
